Clad in a dark crimson power armor wielding a power Katana and Naginata, the Divine Winds Astartes teleport deep behind enemy lines, delivering shocking blow against his foe. Divine Wind is a Codex-compliant chapter hailing from the feudal world of Edonia,a planet of eternal dawn. Created somewhere during the 34th Millennium, undertaken amid the dark times of the Nova Terra Interregnum, when the Imperium of Man had been split into twin interstellar empires. Denouncing the High Lords of Terra, the Ur-Council of Nova Terra claimed rule over the Segmentum Pacificus. This period of divided rule lasted for nine standard centuries.

The Divine Winds are created as an additional defence against the threat of the warpstorm anomaly known as the Maelstorm and to repel both Eldar and Ork Corsairs that nest between the warpstorm and the real space at its surroundings. The Chapter is known to posses unique power sword called Katana, Nodachi and unique power lance known as Naginata more than any other chapters.  

Chapter History

The Chapters History dates back during the end of 33rd Millennium when Edonia was invaded by a massive Eldar Corsair led by Corsair Princess Aranela the Dominant. The feudalistic denizens of Edonia led a resistance against the corsair tha occurred for almost 20 years. In the deep desperate hope,a Space Marine Strike Cruiser belonged to the White Scars and decent upon the surface of Edonia, aiding their citizens and fight the xeno corsairs. Within a week the Eldar Corsair was crushed and the Corsair Princess fled with her remaining armies, swearing that she will led a massive retaliation forces to destroy Edonia and claim the prized artifact.

Realizing the potential power of the Edonian army, the White Scar Captain decide to take commendation to the Great Khan and the High Lords of Terra whom decide to grant their request and authorise a successor chapter, and thus the Divine Winds were born. The newly Founded Chapter was initially raised from the hardy gene-stock of the people of the medieval world of Edonia. They were found to be free of Chaotic taint and genetic mutation and possessed an extreme adherence to the Imperial Cult, although in a different and more peaceful form. Their physical prowess and zealous faith in the God-Emperor made them ideal genetic stock for a newly raised Adeptus Astartes Chapter.

The Chapter's hatred against the corsair forces be it Eldar, Human, or Orks become their weapon as they fought many worlds around the Maelstorm to destroy and hunt every last corsairs. Adapting the ancient Edonian culture from ancient Terra nation called Japan or Nippon, all members of the Divine Wind Astartes are all equipped with unique power swords known as power katana or odachi. While the 1st Company and the Honor Guard are equipped with power spear known as power Naginata. The Chapter's Close Combat prowess, Suicidal Charges and hatred of piracy are widely known to strike fear to the pirates, marauders, corsairs, even Dark Eldar Cabals.

Chapter Home World

Edonia is a medieval planet located on the west edge of the Ultima Segmentum near the Maelstorm. Edonia is well known as a planet of eternal dawn, where its blue sun slowly dying every decades. This temperate medieval planet is home to hundreds of Edonian clans who maintain the land and sometimes feud over each other. The people of the land worship the Emperor of Mankind as the Eternal Sun God who protect them from the dangers of the Dark Gods.

Aside from being known as the planet of eternal dawn, Edonia is well known for its forests where the trees always bloom every month in a near pink color; adapting similar to the extinct Cherry Blossom tree that bloom once per year.

No Imperium weapons such as bolter, missile launchers or even lasguns are known to the planet's denizens. When the "sky raider" as they all known invade the world the local daimyos will unite and settle their differences. Together they will raised their armies, armed only with medieval weapons -- katana, odachi, naginata, yari spear, bows, cannons, and ancient muskets.

Later on during 41st Millenium after the construction of Space Fortress Susano, millions of Edonian denizens were recruited as the planetary defense force of 800th Edonian Dragonsbreath. A massive military growth occurs on Edonia and its citizens started to recognize the use of Leman Russ tanks, Chimeras, Lasguns, and Autocannons.

The Recruitment Process

The process of recruitment for the Divine Winds is nearly the same as many other Chapters. Recruits are chosen from amongst the best warriors or from men with gifted military talents, be they militia, orphans, sons from nobles, local soldiers, farmers, fisherman, even criminals. Amongst the most valued traits in a recruit are a high sense of honor, aggression, martial arts prowess, excellent swordmanship, and an innate psychotic-level killer instinct.

After receiving several tasks to carry out, these Aspirants are armed with only a power katana will be dropped upon an unknown untamed death world. There the aspirants should found a pirate lair or at least a group of corsairs and slaughter every last of the pirates be it human or xeno. If the Aspirant succeeds in these chosen tasks, then they will ascend to become a Scout Marine, and given the first of many Adeptus Astartes' implants and an honorary title "Samurai" as a gift from their Chapter. Should the aspirants failed they will be dishonored and often pay their price with a ritual suicide known as harakiri or seppuku.

  • Daimyō - Divine Winds equivalent of a standard Space Marine Captain and who commands one of the 5 (Companies) that comprise the full Divine Wind Chapter's military force.

  • Edonian Miko - Divine Winds Librarian Auxiliary: Unlike their progenitor White Scars, the Divine Winds shun male psykers as unfit for the society whereas female psykers are welcomed and accepted to the Edonian Society. The Divine Winds employ Edonian Miko as their additional manpower and needs of psyker. Edonian Miko is consist of female psykers with a long black hair, powered by Sororitas Mark VI Divina Power Armor and equipped with a tiara that work much like Astartes Psychic Hood. Led by their High Priestess, the Miko of Edonia although did not belong to the Divine Wind Chapter, are always stand ready to provide support and involved in many wars and crusades conducted by the Divine Winds.

The gene-seed of the Divine Winds were hailed from the noble White Scars. The gene-seed of the Divine Winds did not share the traits of wild savagery like their forefathers. The trait that came from the gene-seed is over fearless traits that tend to cause an Astartes to fight their enemies with overwhelming speed and without any sign or fear of death.
