The Azure Tridents are a 25th Founding Chapter, formed in Late M40 from Ultramarine Gene Stock. Primarily formed to guard the borders of the Caradryad Sector in the Segemntum Tempestus, their home is the ocean world of Pelagos.

Due to increased concerns over the presence of the Warp Storms known as The Storms of Judgement which dominate the Caradryad Sector, the decision was made to create a new with the aim of protecting the area west of the storms.

The world known as Pelagos was first colonised late in M18 when a ship, the Calypso, visited the system with aim of setting up a hydroponics research colony. By the onset of the Age of Strife, a thriving colony had spread beneath the oceans of Pelagos,almost like a Subaquatic Hive. Like many human worlds during Old Night, contact with Terra was lost, a situation made worse by the Warp Storms so close to the planet.
By the time the Great Crusade reached Pelagos, the population of Pelagos was fast outgrowing the available living space. Crime in the lower reaches of the habitat was endemic and provided a perfect recruiting ground for the Imperial Guard. These same conditions also made for a supply of recruits for the Azure Tridents following their founding.

The surface of Pelagos is over 95% water with a single rocky landmass and a few scattered islands. The oceans are lifeless as they have a high promethium concentration. All land is

given over to the Tridents, the largest landmass being the location of Munimentum Maris, their fortress monastery.
Munimentum Maris[]
The fortress monastery of the Azure Tridents is located on Chryse, the only sizable landmass on Pelagos. Hollowed out of an extinct volcano, the miles of corridors worm their through the rock of the island.
Combat Doctrine and Tactics[]
As befits a successor Chapter of Ultramarine stock, the Azure Tridents follow the Codex Astartes as closely as is possible with only minor deviations from the teachings of Roboute Guilliman.
Due to the subaquatic nature of their homeworld, the Tridents have become adept at close quarter combat. Over the years, they have honed their skills at fighting in enclosed spaces. Because of this, they are particularly efficient at dealing with any space hulks they come across - the decks and corridors of the ships being quite similar to the confines of their home.
